KUTA, Bali (BPN) – Indonesian Bartender Association (HBI) successfully held the preliminary session of The H Day Mixology Competition 2023 in Bali on Monday, 17 April 2023, at the W-Atlas Superclub Bali, with Rio Gaku (The Social Seminyak) emerged as the first winner.
This competition will continue its roadshow to four other cities on the island of Java, namely Surabaya (Velvet Club) on June 19, Semarang (Gold Dragon) on June 21, then on July 17 and July 20 in Bandung and Jakarta.
The competition will pick three winners, and the 1st and 2nd place winners will represent each city that will later perform in the final of The H Day Mixology Competition 2023.
Chairman of HBI Bayu Hendra said, apart from developing bartender skills, this event is also intended to educate young bartenders to show their bravery to compete.
In addition, post-pandemic, his party wants to create a big event that can boost Bali tourism, so that the bartenders who have been affected by the pandemic will have the enthusiasm to sharpen their skills again.
“Hopefully, through this kind of event, there will be regeneration of professional bartenders. Because from the hospitality side, the skills must also be balanced with the attitude. Bartenders must also have manners,” he said during a press conference at the Solia Legian Hotel, Monday, June 13, 2023.
Bayu Hendra claimed this is the biggest bartender event this year since it event does not only cover Bali but also some parts of Indonesia.
“The first event has taken place in Bali and will continue in four other cities. This event is very, very much anticipated by bartenders. Because there will be a competition to determine the best of the best in Indonesia,” said Bayu.
Meanwhile, Master Blender of PT Mulia Dewata Gemilang, Yos Malelak, expressed his interest in working with HBI in this event.
“HBI has made a prestigious competition. Apart from introducing our product H-Gin, we also want to take part in looking for talented bartenders, because this event continues to sharpen Indonesian bartenders so that they can compete against world-class bartenders,” Yos said.
