According to Poppy Capella, she intends to provide a platform for Indonesian women, while showing them that they have many amazing talents and qualities fit to become Miss Universe.

Poppy hopes that through Miss Universe Indonesia, she can help young women shine, boost their self-esteem, embrace their Indonesian identities, and establish themselves with confidence.

“With 49.5 percent of Indonesia’s population consisting of women, Miss Universe Indonesia is ready to transform the current organization while providing accessible opportunities for women to collaborate on the improvement of several social issues occurring in Indonesia. Indonesian women still have a lot of opportunities to expand and to be stretched, especially Miss Universe upholds the empowering women principle,” she said in a press conference in Nusa Dua on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Poppy also expressed her gratitude and respect to the previous organization, Yayasan Puteri Indonesia Foundation, which has done an extraordinary job to bring Indonesia’s name to the Miss Universe global for the last 30 years.

Poppy explained, she dreams to take this beauty pageant to another level with a fresh look, strong branding, giving much more to society, more massive production, and significant investment for Indonesian women, and most importantly, engaging more with Indonesian citizens and beauty pageant fans.

For the production, Miss Universe Indonesia wants to utilize more in the future digital platform, ride into the trends and adjust them to Indonesia’s norms and culture.

“For example, for the tourism sector, Miss Universe Indonesia wants to bring out the best of Indonesia’s hidden gems and it will be shown through the candidates from each state when they do the campaign. Because up until now, the world has only seen a small part of Indonesia’s beauty and we still have so much more to offer,” Poppy said.

That’s why with the lens of transformational leadership brought by Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, herself, and the rest of the Miss Universe Indonesia team, beauty pageants in Indonesia will be innovated, revolutionized, and ready to enter the new chapter of its history.
