JAKARTA (BPN) – The Indonesian government to introduce a quarantine-free entry to Bali for international passengers under a trial program from 14 March 2022.
“We could speed up the target from March 14 by one week earlier if next week the trend of cases shows improving results. Because in Bali, it seems that yesterday we saw the numbers continue to improve over the last few weeks,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, in a press conference, Sunday, 27 February 2022.
As cited from setkab.go.id, There are several requirements for travelers during the trial;
- International travelers who come must show proof of hotel bookings that have been paid for at least four days or show proof of domicile in Bali for Indonesian citizens (WNI).
- The incoming travelers must have been fully vaccinated or received a booster.
- Travelers must take the entry PCR test and wait in the hotel room until a negative result comes out. After testing negative, travelers will be free to carry out activities by following health protocols.
- International travelers take another PCR test on the third day at their respective hotels.
- International events which will be held in Bali during the free-quarantine trial period will apply the provisions of daily antigen test to all participants without exception.
- Revocation of the obligation to have a sponsor/guarantor for tourist e-visa requests because it is considered burdensome for foreign tourists who will enter.
Luhut revealed that Bali is chosen as the location for the trial due to the second-dose vaccination rate that is higher than other provinces.
“If the trial in Bali goes well, we will expand the free-quarantine policy throughout Indonesia from April 1 or earlier. But once again this policy will be carried out based on data on future developments of the pandemic,” he said.
