Ubud Village Jazz festival 2020 Canceled Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

UBUD, Bali (BPN) – The biggest jazz festival in Bali, Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) 2020 has been canceled. The decision considering the global COVID-19 pandemic situation that has a significant impact on the tourism industry and the economy in Bali.

UVJF is the largest international jazz festival in Bali, which has been held seven times since 2013.

“The Ubud Village Jazz Festival which originally will be held on August 14 and 15, 2020, has been canceled. Hopefully, things will get better and we can start again next year,” said Anom Darsana, Co-Founder of UVJF, on Thursday.

Yuri Mahatma, a musician and also Co-founder of UVJF, explained that a lot of people suggested that instead of being canceled, it would be better to postpone it, whilst hoping the pandemic will end soon.

However, he considered several points when making this decision. First, even if it does get better in the next few months, it will still require time for recovery.

“Secondly, this is more of a moral reason, we feel it is a wise step if we all share our concern and empathy for those who need more help,” he added.
