TABANAN, Bali (BPN) – Bali’s most-visited destination, Tanah Lot, plans to increase entry fees starting in January 2024. The new fees will also be followed by improvements in facilities, security, comfort, and cleanliness in the Tanah Lot area.
According to Putu Toni Wirawan, Assistant Operations Manager of DTW Tanah Lot, the increase is for both domestic and international tourists.
For domestic children, fees will rise from IDR 15,000 to 20,000, and adults will rise from IDR 20,000 to IDR 30,000.
Meanwhile for foreign tourists; ticket for children will rise from IDR 30,000 to IDR 40,000, and for adults, IDR 60,000 to IDR 72,000.
Toni Wirawan explained the fees were last raised in April 2018, which was five years ago.
The plan to increase ticket prices to Tanah Lot has been informed to tourism stakeholders, especially guides and travel agents, and they accepted the decision, especially since it will be followed by developments of facilities and services for tourists.

“We are trying to ensure that the increases are not too high since we are just starting to recover (from the pandemic). We will improve facilities, security, comfort, and cleanliness such as restrooms, and add more green areas,” said Toni.
In addition, Toni said that his party would also add several other facilities such as selfie spots.
The official announcement of this ticket price increase will be delivered during the DTW Tanah Lot Management Open House from 30 December 2023 to 1 January 2024. Travel agencies and guides will be invited to participate to provide feedback for a better Tanah Lot in the future.
Besides, tourists visiting Tanah Lot when the Open House is held can also watch art performances and enjoy traditional Balinese dishes.
Regarding tourist visits, Toni explained that monthly visitors are dominated by tourists from different countries, such as August being dominated by visitors from European countries, while October was dominated by Indian tourists.
However, overall, this year’s number of visits is increasing compared to last year where in October 2022, the number of visits reached 141,748 people consisting of 94,570 domestic tourists and 47,178 foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, in October 2023, visits reached 162,769 people consisting of 90,906 domestic and 71,863 foreign tourists.
