Shenzhen Overseas Launches OCTF in Bali, to Strengthen Indonesia-China Cooperation

MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – Shenzhen Overseas Business Think Tank Research Institute (OBTTRI) held a Conference and Trade Expo at Jimbaran Bay Resort Kedonganan, on Monday (11/14/2022). The expo was attended by some speakers including three online speakers from Malaysia, China, dan Vietnam.

The conference started with the launching of OCTF, an institution that becomes the hub to strengthen, ease, and expedite the procurement of goods and services as well as the sales center of China and Indonesia.

Director General of Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Think Tank Cheng Wing SZE said that the event aimed to strengthen cooperation in the field of economy, trade, tourism, and culture.

“In the future, the cooperation will be more real in the field of economy, export, and import for both countries. Transfer of technology is also a priority in the partnership,” he said.

Cheng Wing explained that the trade cooperation between Indonesia and China has been established for 30 years. Therefore, new communication is established in all sectors to strengthen the economy and trade in both countries.

“For example, trade in goods and services that are needed by the two countries. Also technology, the pharmaceutical and drug sectors. In the future, this collaboration will be more concrete with the presence of OCTF,” Cheng Wing said.

Meanwhile, Herry, Chairman of the Teochew Association of Bali Island, said that the presence of OCTF in Bali will ease the cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

“Overseas Chinese is getting stronger and in large number throughout Indonesia. The potential is huge, making it easier to build networks among business actors in various fields,” he said.

In the dialogue session, various communities provided input for the development of more concrete cooperation with the presence of OCTF. Like INTI Bali which proposed cooperation with medical experts.

“China is very famous for its extraordinary research on stem cells. Also has been very rapid progress in the fields of economics and health technology. This requires concrete cooperation,” suggested one of INTI Bali’s board.

Dianto from the Indonesia-China Friendship Association (PPIT) proposed that the already running cooperation such as culture, tourism, and education be expanded with the launch of the OCTF.

“Cooperation in trade, tourism, health, education, and culture should be strengthened for the long term,” he said.

Answering questions and input from participants, Cheng Wing said the launch of the OCTF responds to cooperation in economic relations, education and culture.

“In the future, there will be events throughout the year or at least once every three months. In that event, there will be certain fields that are highlighted periodically,” said Cheng Wing.

The conference and seminar were attended by the entire Chinese community in Bali, namely the PPIT, PSMTI, INTI Bali, MINNAN, Hakka, and the Jembatan Budaya School.
