Ministry of Transportation to Impose Odd-Even Traffic Policy in Sanur, Kuta and Nusa Dua, Ahead of G20 Summit

JAKARTA (BPN) – The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation to impose an Odd-Even traffic policy, to anticipate traffic density during the G20 Summit. The policy will be applied from November 11, 2022, to November 17, 2022, from 6 AM until 10 PM.

The policy is stated in Circular Number SE-DRJD 3 of 2022 concerning Traffic Regulations During the Implementation Period of the 2022 G-20 Summit Bali, on 31 October 2022.

Cucu Mulyana, Director for land traffic of the Transportation Ministry’s directorate general for land transportation said that there are 2 traffic arrangements during the G20 Summit, namely the odd-even system and restrictions on freight transport operations.

“We have conducted surveys in advance. Based on this survey, the traffic performance in Bali has started to grow so that the roads’ level of service is congested, and crowded, but smooth. Therefore, an odd-even engineering scheme and restriction on the operation of goods transport are imposed,” said Cucu Mulyana, in her press statement, Friday (11/4/2022).

Cucu explained that the trials for both policies will be carried out on the 9th and 10th of November. “The trial on the 9th will start at 11 AM – 4 PM, while the 10th will start at 5 PM – 8 PM,” Cucu said.

The Odd-even traffic policy and restriction on the operation of goods transport will be enforced on 10 main roads, namely:

  1. Simpang (intersection) Pesanggaran – Simpang Sanur;
  2. Simpang Kuta – Simpang Pesanggaran;
  3. Simpang Kuta – Ngurah Rai Monument;
  4. Ngurah Rai Monument – ​​Nusa Dua;
  5. Simpang Pesanggaran – Benoa Gate;
  6. Airport Interchange (DPS) – Tugu Ngurah Rai;
  7. Jimbaran – Uluwatu;
  8. Bali Mandara Toll Road;
  9. Jalan Uluwatu II;
  10. Jalan Raya Kampus Udayana.

Cucu explained that this traffic regulation does not apply to vehicles belonging to the leadership of state institutions, ministers and leaders of non-ministerial government institutions, and leaders and officials of foreign countries.

Also official vehicles with red plates or TNI/POLRI service numbers, firefighters, ambulances, transportation public with yellow plates, G20 Summit vehicles, electric motorized vehicles, vehicles with disabilities, cranes, and vehicles for certain purposes.

Meanwhile, the restriction of goods transport will be imposed on goods vehicles with a Permitted Weight (JBI) of more than 8,000 kilograms, goods cars with 3 or more axles, goods cars with attached trains, freight cars with transport trains, goods cars used to transport soil, sand, stones, mining materials, and building materials.

Cucu continued, the operational arrangements for transporting goods do not apply to cars transporting fuel oil or gas fuel, export, and import goods from and to sea ports that handle exports and imports, bottled drinking water, livestock, fertilizers, postal delivery and money, logistics needs for the Summit G20, and staple foodstuffs.

“If there is discretion or exception in the event of a disaster or riot, this is something we must prepare. The odd-even traffic policy and restrictions on the transportation of goods are stated by the installation of traffic signs in accordance with applicable regulations,” Cucu said.
