Magical Moments at Alam Atelier Scool, Delivering Hope and Love to Children

CANGGU, Bali (BPN) – Hope and love are crucial messages to instill to children from an early age to ensure they have a strong foundation both individually and within their families.

To deliver this message, Alam Atelier School in Canggu held an engaging event featuring renowned clowns from Malaysia and the United States who provided performances that entertained and captivated the attending children.

Additionally, the event served as a charity, inviting around 40 children from the Sidhi Astu orphanage.

According to Supiani Winata, one of the owners of Alam Atelier School, the purpose of inviting Uncle Button from Malaysia and Chagy from the United States was to share messages of hope, love, and moral values with children.

These clowns are professional entertainers who have performed across the world and consistently share positive messages and special themes in their shows.

“I see that both the current generation and families need love as a foundation to get closer and understand each other. Meanwhile, from the perspective of hope, many current generations find it easy to lose hope. Thus, these messages are quite powerful to deliver,” she explained during the event on Saturday (August 10, 2024).

Regarding the charity, Supiani Winata explained that they invited 40 children from the Sidhi Astu orphanage to participate in the event, and the proceeds from the ticket sales would be donated to the foundation located on Jl. Raya Tuka, Dalung, Badung.

Supiani Winata described Alam Atelier School as a nature-based kindergarten that has been operating since 2016 in Berawa, Canggu, and caters to children aged 6 months to 6 years.

One of the notable features of the school is its use of the Reggio Emilia approach, a highly regarded educational system for early childhood that is popular and implemented in various countries.

“Children are architects of their learning and they learn best from and with their interests. Often, these interests spark their projects, such as those related to the environment, science, and more,” she said.

In addition, this approach also emphasizes the environment, including cultural elements, with Balinese culture being an important aspect studied at the school.

Natural items with Balinese or Indonesian elements are placed into the learning environment. “This way, children learn about and explore these items. We don’t just place things randomly; there’s a purpose, such as developing children’s motor skills,” she said.

From the perspective of educators, the Reggio Emilia approach at Alam Atelier School views teachers as facilitators who bridge the interests of the children, enabling them to become critical thinkers.
