Eco Tourism Bali Engages 150 Volunteers to Plant 1000 Mangrove Seedlings at Wana Segara Kertih, Jimbaran

JIMBARAN, Bali (BPN) – Eco Tourism Bali, the Open Flow Learning Center, planted 700 mangrove seedlings of the Rhizophora Muktunata species in the Wana Segara Kertih Fishermen Group area, on Saturday, February 11, 2023. The activity was held jointly with other communities with the aim of greening Bali.

This is the second time Eco Tourism Bali has carried out mangrove planting activities as one of the commitments in taking responsibility for reforesting Bali Island.

This activity involves various communities in Bali, namely BEM (Student Executive Bodies) Faculty of Foreign Languages, Mahasaraswati University, Adventurous Yoga Group, and other communities concerned with nature.

Rahmi Fajar Harini, the co-founder of Eco-Tourism Bali, said that the purpose of Eco-Tourism Bali is for people to know the importance of protecting the environment through mangroves because mangroves have an important role in nature and reducing carbon sinks.

Rahmi also said thank you very much to the partners who have supported this activity.

Meanwhile, Nyoman, the head of the Wana Segara Kertih fishing group said that they plant mangroves from the heart but also through mangrove planting they are saving for children and grandchildren in the future.

This mangrove planting activity is the second program in which Eco Tourism Bali has partnered with the Global Youth Conference in the first program, then together with Open Flow, Discova, BEN Faculty of Foreign Languages, Mahasaraswati University, Nature Lovers Student Association, Representatives of the Udayana University Marine Student Association and also the Adventurous Yoga Mothers group.

This was the second event of the Regenerative ETB program, with 1000 mangrove seedlings planted.

Planting mangrove seeds in the Kedonganan mangrove Great Forest Park area in collaboration with the Wana Segara Kertih fishing community aims to kick off the two activities with a similar vision and mission through activities that have a real impact.

“Many movements like this are needed to empower mangroves. Because Mangrove as part of the environment is important for carbon sequestration in Bali. This activity also involves UPTD Ngurah Rai Forest Park with a commitment to protecting mangrove forests,” Nyoman said.

The participants who attended the mangrove planting were 150 people with an age range of 5 – 60 years. With great enthusiasm and unyielding, the participants managed to plant 700 mangrove seedlings that had been divided into five areas in approximately one and a half hours.

After completing the mangrove planting in the designated areas, the participants continued to pick up trash in the Wana Segara Kertih Fishermen Group area.

In this mangrove planting, Eco-Tourism Bali collaborated with Discova as the official transportation and The Body Shop Indonesia who also took part to enliven the mangrove planting by giving prizes to quiz winners and also the best content mangrove plantation Ecotourism Bali 2023.

Eco Tourism Bali will continue to conduct regenerative Bali activities every three months to achieve the goal of greening Bali Island in 2030.

Therefore, Eco-Tourism Bali also opens opportunities for anyone who wants to collaborate together to achieve sustainability targets in Bali.
