MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – The number of bird flu cases abroad has led to an increase in Overseas Travelers (PPLN) surveillance at Bali Airport.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, Handy Heryudhitiawan said, his party has coordinated with the Denpasar Port Health Authority (KKP) and the Denpasar Agricultural Quarantine Center.
“Thermal scanners, which may detect health concerns early from a person’s body temperature, are among the monitoring tools that are always effective and are used to keep an eye on passengers or even passing officers. Thermal scanners are currently present in five locations: one in international arrivals, two in international departures, and two in domestic departures,” he said.
Handy added that until now there has been no specific policy for foreign travelers coming to Bali through Bali Airport.
“If a person is found with a temperature above normal, of course, the officer will carry out a further examination. There is no special treatment or routing for passengers coming from countries where bird flu cases have been detected, considering that mitigation has been carried out by relevant stakeholders,” said Handy.
However, since the initial news of the bird flu case, there has been no decline in the number of travelers at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
“There is no drop in traffic. Based on the data, traffic is still stable with an average of serving 47-48 thousand domestic and international passengers,” said Handy.
“Traffic is not decreasing. According to the data, traffic is still steady, servicing an average of 47–48 thousand domestic and foreign passengers ” said Handy.
