JIMBARAN, Bali (BPN) – Starting March 4th, 2023, guests can once again experience the authentic Balinese cuisine and cultural immersion at Kampoeng Bali, the renowned restaurant of AYANA Estate.
The restaurant will open its doors for dinner every Wednesday and Saturday from 6 p.m. Kampoeng Bali, which takes its name from the Indonesian word for village, offers an enchanting journey into the heart of a traditional Balinese village, where guests can savor the island’s diverse culinary delights and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and heritage of Bali.
Nestled within the lush gardens of RIMBA by AYANA and surrounded by a serene pond and verdant rice paddy field, Kampoeng Bali can accommodate up to 250 guests.
As guests enter, they are greeted by a traditional Balinese market offering handcrafted gifts, known as oleh-oleh.
The restaurant’s stunning open-air theater boasts a terraced amphitheater-style setting that perfectly captures Bali’s renowned sunset, creating a breathtaking backdrop for the evening’s sunset ritual procession, which commences at 6 p.m.
Guests will then be treated to a mystical candlelight blessing ceremony, followed by a dynamic theatrical Kecak performance that showcases Bali’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Presenting a unique twist on AYANA Estate’s innovative collection of notable restaurants and private event venues, Kampoeng Bali is where an unrivalled Balinese buffet, with customary live cooking stations and grills, comes to life.
Designed to please guests that are new to Balinese cuisine as well as connoisseurs. The Kampoeng Bali culinary team sources daily from Jimbaran’s local fishermen to create the island’s most famous dishes, such as succulent barbecued prawns, and the popular Bebek Betutu, Tum Bebek, and Jukut Ares Mebe Siap, a signature slow-cooked dish that features free-range chicken and banana stem, which showcase the region’s rich culinary heritage to delight and satisfy the most discerning of diners.
During dinner, a 40-minute Kecak dance performance begins at 7 p.m. A distinctive form of traditional Balinese dance that is frequently showcased in cultural exhibitions and festivals, the Kecak dance will be performed by a substantial group of male dancers, who utilize vocalizations and rhythmic chanting in lieu of conventional musical instruments.
Adorned in customary checkered cloth around their waists, the dancers convey intricate stories from Hindu mythology of Ramayana through their movements.
The performance is further enhanced by the accompaniment of fire dances, dynamic lighting, and elaborate costumes, ensuring a captivating and unforgettable experience for viewers. After the performance, an extensive selection of traditional Balinese sweets is available including homemade ice cream and sorbet, while the sounds of Rindik music creates a magical ambience throughout Kampoeng Bali.
“With Kampoeng Bali, AYANA offers guests a truly authentic Balinese village experience with traditional cuisine and atmosphere accompanied by a stellar Balinese performance, making it the perfect destination for those looking for an unforgettable cultural experience,” said Giordano Faggioli, Hotel Manager at AYANA Estate.
