“Especially when it comes to religious ceremonies, and cultural rituals. There are important Hindu rituals in Bali, which are carried out on the beach and at sea,” Governor Koster said as quoted from the press release on Saturday.

According to the Governor, currently, there are irregularities in the management and utilization of the coastal area. Among other things, the number of hotels or villas that use the beach and the sea as part of their view.

This condition often leads to unhealthy practices that interfere with religious and cultural rituals.

“This has also become one of the concerns and problems that I am dealing with serious because the “takeover” of coastal areas has been done by several hotels as if the beach belonged to them. It then leads to the restriction for people who carry out religious rituals,” Koster stressed.

Koster further said that Bali has the potential to develop marine tourism, and not only relying on tourism development on land or the beach.

For example, he continued, Bali can create a tour package around Bali by sea and the government will prepare the infrastructure at various points. These points also can be used as marine tourism locations in addition to its main function for logistics.

“If properly managed and protected, we believe that our coastal and marine areas in Bali can provide the greatest benefit for the welfare of society. That is why I hope these two regional regulation drafts can be immediately discussed and finalized,” Koster said.
