China’s Tourism Professionals Sending Back Greeting “Jiayou” and Donating PPE for Indonesia

JAKARTA (BPN) – Tourism professionals who have been partners of the promotion of Wonderful Indonesia in China send back similar empathy that has been sent previously by Indonesia to them through the greeting “jiayou” (enthusiasm).

They also donate medical equipment including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the Indonesian medical personnel who are fighting the COVID-19, according to the tourism ministry’s press release, on Wednesday.

The Director of Tourism Marketing for Regional 2 for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) Sigit Witjaksono explained, the Ministry receives a special shipment from several working partners of tourism professionals in China. 

“When China first faced the COVID-10 outbreak, our ministry sent a motivational video message ‘Jiayou’ to show our empathy to the public there. Now they are doing the same thing and even sending us PPE for our medical personnel,” Sigit Witjaksono said.

The cooperation with those working partners resulting in donations that are delivered to medical workers in Indonesia in the form of 100,000 surgical masks, 150 particulate respirator masks, and 50 hazmat suits.

The donation is sent directly from China and arrived in Jakarta on April 29th, 2020. It will then be coordinated with the COVID-19 Task Force, to further distribute to several referral hospitals and other health facilities.

“We hope that this donation can give benefit for those who are currently struggling and may those medical heroes can be well protected and more enthusiasm in taking care of the patients,” Sigit Witjaksono said.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has previously committed to preventing COVID-19 transmission.

Various efforts have been carried out, such as supporting the tourism and creative economy professionals with several stimuli programs and providing medical equipment.

“Medical workers are highly dedicated and willing to risk their lives and leave the family to help the patients who are positive of COVID-19, so we should support them by preparing accommodation and medical equipment so that they can work safely and comfortably,” Sigit said.
