JAKARTA (BPN) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is urging people to wear face masks when they are out in the public. This is following the recommendation from the World Health Organization (WHO).
“Earlier, WHO said that the face masks only be worn by sick people. But now, all who leave the house must wear masks,” he said on Monday, as quoted from the Press Release of the Presidential Media Bureau.
Therefore, the President has instructed his staff to ensure the availability of face masks for the public.
“The distribution of face masks to the people should be well-prepared. We want those who have to leave the house must wear a face mask,” the President said.
Earlier, the government spokesman for the COVID-19 control and prevention, Achmad Yurianto, stated that the face mask policy followed the recommendation from WHO.
Yuri said that people are advised to wear face masks that can be washed and worn more than once. At the moment, medical masks such as surgical masks and N-95 are prioritized for doctors and medics.
