China Eastern Airlines Resumes Flight from Shanghai to Bali

MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – China Eastern Airlines resumes its Shanghai – Denpasar – Shanghai route on Friday (14/04). It is for the first time the airline returns to Bali after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The connectivity of Shanghai and Bali is important considering that Shanghai is one of the busiest cities in the world. We hope that the opening of this route will further increase visits of Chinese to Bali,” said Handy Heryudhitiawan, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali.

On its inaugural flight, the China Eastern Airlines landed at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali on Friday at 01.35 local times, carrying 187 passengers from Shanghai, China. Then returned to Shanghai at 02.50 with 94 passengers.

“We are still waiting for proposals for new routes to China by several airlines. We are currently still discussing it with related parties, and we hope that by the end of this year, routes to and from China will be like before the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Handy.

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali serves three routes to Mainland China, namely Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Xiamen with three airlines.

“Overall we serve 27 scheduled international routes served by 33 airlines. We hope that the re-connection between Bali and Shanghai will have a positive impact on the world of aviation and tourism in Bali,” Handy concluded.
