UBUD, Bali (BPN) – The Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bali held its 16th Sharing Session & Leaders Talk and Member Gathering, which was hosted by IHGMA Gianyar, at SereS Springs Resort & Spa, Ubud, Gianyar, on Friday (Oct. 20).
Chairman of the IHGMA Gianyar, Nyoman Prabawa said tourism recovery, particularly in Gianyar Regency, improving and that he hopes it will strengthen and resume to normal in 2024.
Prabawa explained that IHGMA DPC Gianyar is committed to transforming Bali Tourism into a Trans Sector, by providing benefits to all stakeholders, especially local farmers in Gianyar.
Head of the Training, Accreditation, and Certification Division of IHGMA Bali, I Made Dwijantara, explained that the gathering was themed Tourism Trends in 2024: Evolution of Travel and Traveler Behavior.
Dwijantara noted that this topic was chosen because GMs are currently preparing the budget for 2024, thus, insight regarding travel and traveler conditions for next year is required in order to be able to estimate realistic goals to be set for 2024.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of IHGMA Bali Yoga Iswara, revealed that as of September 2023, the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali had reached 3.9 million, or 87 percent of the 4.5 million foreign tourists target number established for 2023.
Yoga is confident that Bali will exceed the target of at least 5 million foreign tourists throughout 2023.
Yoga added that despite challenges like the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the trend will remain strong in 2024.
The Japanese and Chinese markets are expected to increase in 2024 which will have an impact on strengthening achievement targeted in 2024.
“Hopefully the (Indonesian) election can run smoothly so that it would not bring a negative impact on the tourism sector which is quite sensitive to domestic security disturbances,” Yoga stated.
The Head of Organization, Cooperation and Institutional Division of IHGMA Bali, I Wayan Parka, explained that the association is committed to enhancing human resources.
According to Parka, Bali’s success in developing a quality and responsible destination is due to its outstanding human resources.
“Many tourism problems in Bali arise because there are still grey areas. In order to improve the quality of products, services, and management and achieve sustainable tourist satisfaction, one answer we can offer is to improve the quality of human resources,” he said.
According to Parka, the following Member Gathering will take place in Buleleng Regency in order to promote equality by featuring themes and speakers who are reliable and relevant to the Regency’s needs for human resources.
