MANGUPURA Bali (BPN) – PT Angkasa Pura I has increased the security measures at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali ahead of the G20 Summit in November. The preparations include intensifying the alertness of security personnel and the synergy with the airport community.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, Handy Heryudhitiawan said, the airport is ready to welcome the arrival of state guests at the G20 Summit.
“As one of the faces of Bali, we have prepared the airport as maximum as possible both operations and security, to ensure that the G20 Summit can be held properly,” he said.
“Since the G20 series of events started earlier this year, we have made security improvements and we are always evaluating for the future. We continue to intensively synergize with relevant stakeholders such as the Bali Police Headquarter, Air Force Base, the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), as well as Consulate Generals of the participating countries of the G20 Summit, to ensure security during the activity. We also routinely carry out joint patrols with the Pecalang (Traditional Balinese Security Guards) of Tuban and Kelan Villages to ensure security in the area around the airport,” Handy added.
Handy said that I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali has adequate facilities and personnel to ensure security at the airport.
“Currently, there are 903 Airport Security Personnel who secure the airport environment. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali is also equipped with several facilities such as the Explosive Trace Detection System to ensure that no dangerous goods enter the airport area,” he continued.
In addition, Handy continued, that on September 9, 2022, the airport carried out a routine agenda, the Airport Security Committee (ASC) Meeting, which this year, focused on handling security during the G20 series of events.
Besides, Handy explained one other agenda to be carried out by I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali to prepare the security ahead of the G20 Summit, namely the Airport Security Exercise.
“On September 29, 2022, we will conduct a simulation of security emergency handling in the airport environment involving Airport Security and all airport security stakeholders. This is to prepare the Security personnel and the airport community in dealing with critical situations at the G20 Summit,” he explained.
“The G20 Summit is an international event and it’s an honor for Indonesia, and especially Bali, to host the event. For this reason, we ask for the support from the community and related parties to contribute to the success of Indonesia’s presidency at the G20 Summit,” Handy said.
