Angkasa Pura Stops Commercial Flights Except for Logistics

JAKARTA (BPN) – Angkasa Pura Airports, a state-owned company handling airports in Indonesia including the Ngurah Rai International Airports, Bali, suspends the service for commercial passenger flights at 15 airports under its management starting on Friday, April 24 to June 1, 2020.

This is to support government regulation on the prohibition of Idul Fitri’s Mudik (homecoming exodus) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, Angkasa Pura Airports will continue to operate cargo flights or airlines that carry logistics.

Besides, several other conditions that get the exception are flight carrying or related to heads of high institutions and international guests or representatives, repatriation flight for Indonesian or foreigners, law enforcement operations, and emergency services.

Exceptions are also given to cargo transportation, transporting medical, health, sanitation, and food. Also, other operations with the permission of the Minister to support the acceleration of COVID-19 handling.

“For people who already have tickets with flight schedules during that period to contact the airlines for refund or reschedule, “said Vice President Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura Airports Handy Heryudhitiawan.

Handy explained airports under Angkasa Pura will continue to operate and provide special counters for those who want to refund or reschedule the flight.

Besides, people who want to refund through the airport should pay attention to the COVID-19 prevention protocol such as wearing a face mask, using vehicles with maximum passengers amounting to half of the vehicle capacity, and maintain physical distancing of 1-2 meters from others. 

“Hopefully, the temporary suspension of services for passenger flights can significantly help to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Handy Heryudhitiawan.
