MANGUPURA, Bali (BPN) – Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport recorded 1,305,309 passenger traffic during August 2022 for both arrival and departure of domestic and overseas travelers. The airport also recorded 8,513 aircraft movements during the same month.
According to the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan, since May 2022, Bali Airport has always recorded 1 million passengers.
“In August, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali recorded 589,952 international passengers and 715,357 domestic passengers. Thus, since May, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali has always recorded more than 1 million passengers,” he said in a press release.
While from January to August, 6,918,096 passengers were handled at Bali Airport, both domestic and international.
“It consists of 1,860,842 international passengers and 5,057,244 domestic passengers. It grew 275% compared to 2021,” Handy said.
Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali serves 21 Domestic Flight Routes, served by 10 airlines. For international routes, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali serves 22 international flight routes to 13 countries, served by 24 airlines.
“There is one additional new route at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali in August, namely Korean Air with the Seoul – Denpasar route. While in September, there is an international route Taipei – Denpasar served by China Airlines,” Handy revealed.
For Domestic Flights, the route with the highest traffic is from Jakarta (CGK) with 416,052 passengers. Followed by Surabaya with 93,548 passengers, and Makassar with 43,437 passengers.
“As for international flights, flights from Australia are still dominated by 196,674 passengers. Followed by Singapore with 142,109 passengers and Malaysia with 80,443 passengers. While the highest number of foreigner arrivals on the island are Australian with a recorded 277,034 people, Indian with 71,613 people, and Great Britain with 62,070 people,” said Handy.
“We are optimistic that in the future, the traffic at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali will continue to increase along with the increasing number of international and domestic routes. In addition, the year-end period will also be quite a busy period with Christmas and New Year’s Eve.”
