TABANAN, Bali (BPN) – On Monday, October 17th, floods hit many houses in Griya Batu Indah, Banjar Batu Saingan, Gubug Village, Tabanan regency. It struck at 8 AM in the morning, after a period of intense rain, which caused an increase in the water stream on the north embankment.
Unfortunately, the embankment was not strong enough to hold water, which resulted in a flood within two hours.
Over 50 people were impacted by the disaster, however, no lives were lost. Many houses were damaged, roads were destroyed, and vehicles and properties were washed away by the flood.

According to Yuni, one of the villagers, although this flood was not the first to occur, it was undoubtedly the worst because the water was as high as the waist of an adult.
The flood this time also traumatized the children, whereas they used to swim when the flood wasn’t as high. The adults couldn’t go to work, they have to be ready in case the flood rises again.
Scholars Of Sustenance, a non-profit organization that focused on food equity, got the news around 12.30 PM. They quickly collected their surplus food from hotels and food manufacturers into the truck and traveled all the way from Sanur to the Gubug village in Tabanan.
Despite the traffic, they made it there by three o’clock. The villagers gave them a warm welcome, and then quickly provided food assistance in the form of pastries, fruits, and cooked meals.
The villagers seemed happy as they were taking the food, and the children were seen smiling as they munched on the bread. In less than an hour, the food that was brought had run out.
They were thankful that help has come quickly, just when they need it the most.
Everyone can also participate in helping people who are affected by the floods by giving money donations, food packaged donations (vegetables, fruits, eggs, etc.), and surplus food donations at Jalan Danau Tamblingan No.53, Sanur, Denpasar, Bali.
