BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua and Gahawisri Badung Boost Bali Water Sport Safety with First Aid Training

NUSA DUA, Bali (BPN) – BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua, in collaboration with the Association of Water Tourism Entrepreneurs (Gahawisri) of Badung Regency, has conducted essential safety training, specifically focusing on handling and providing first aid to visitors who experience on-site incidents.

The training session held on Friday (November 7, 2025), was directly led by Dr. Leo Krisnahari from the Emergency Unit of BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua.

In front of the participants, who are members of Gahawisri Badung primarily from the South Kuta area, Dr. Leo provided several crucial training sessions related to international-standard emergency simulations.

This session provided essential knowledge and practical skills on how to respond effectively during medical emergencies, both at work and in daily life.

“With this training, we hope the acquired knowledge can be truly implemented by the participants, as they are the frontliner to ensure there is no delay in patient treatment,” he stated.

The topics covered in the training included cardiac arrest response, choking management, asthma management, wound care, seizure response, injury management, and various other procedures frequently encountered by water sport operators.

The training provided real life demonstrations and useful first aid techniques to ensure safety in tourism activities.

“Our plan is to conduct this training periodically because these emergency simulations must be updated for easier recall, by conducting direct simulations in the field,” he explained.

Dr. Leo hopes that the knowledge transferred can be applied during emergencies to avoid panic, which in turn prevents incorrect treatment.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Gahawisri Badung Regency, Putu Agus Sanjaya, stated that the activity was attended by 20 people representing 10 water sport businesses in South Kuta.

He continued that this training is a vital precaution in case of on-site incidents involving tourists. He emphasized its importance because the type of attraction offered carries a high risk.

“We hope they pay close attention to and understand this training so it can be practiced in the field, and ultimately save tourists if anything happens. Of course, I continue to pray that water sport activities proceed well without accidents,” he explained.

He noted that the training is part of a comprehensive program initiated since he took charge in 2022.

To ensure the safety of water sports and tourists, besides the safety training, his association also holds a certification program for all water sport staff, as well as the legalization of permits for water sport businesses in Tanjung Benoa.

“Once everything is complete, we can be at ease because tourists can feel comfortable and safe,” he remarked.

He also explained that collaborations with BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua have been carried out several times.

Putu Agus expressed strong appreciation to BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua for the ongoing support, from providing safety training to incident response, as this simultaneously helps safeguard the positive image of Bali tourism.
