DENPASAR, Bali (BPN) – Denpasar City Government is set to impose Restriction of Community Activities Restriction (PKM) to curb the spread of COVID-19 at Bali’s capital city. The restriction is planned to be applied starts from Friday, May 15, according to the government official press release.

According to Mayor IB.  Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, the restriction aims to limit people’s activities, in general, the measures almost the same with the existing government advisories. The PKM is to tighten that restriction and it has been stipulated in Mayoral and custom village regulations.

“It almost the same the current advisories, the different is PKM contains sanctions for people who violate the restriction including the customary, because we will involve the customary village on this restriction,” Mayor Rai Mantra said on a press conference in Denpasar, Wednesday.

Rai Mantra explained the reason to restrict because there are still many people in Denpasar who going outdoor and not discipline in applying the health protocols such as social distancing, physical distancing, and not using face masks, despite the increasing COVID-19 cases.

Things that regulated in PKM, Rai Mantra continued, including work from home, study from home, worshipping from home, tightening borders surveillance or people from outside Denpasar entering the city, and tightening business activities such as restaurants, shops, traditional markets, and others.

The mayor said the penalties will range from warnings, businesses temporary closure, to businesses permit cancellation.

“With this PKM, we invite the community in Denpasar to enter a new normal life. Means new lifestyle with a tight and discipline health protocols,” Rai Mantra said
