Artotel Sanur - Bali Holds another Art Exhibition Involving Kids from Studio Gelombang

SANUR, Bali (BPN) – ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali in collaboration with Balinese artists who are members of the alternative space, Studio Gelombang, hold an art exhibition entitled ‘Habitat’.

The exhibition, which opens on December 12, 2023, at ARTSPACE ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali, presents 35 artworks and is open to the public until February 12, 2024.

Habitat is a place to live for various creatures and a place to live should be comfortable. In this exhibition, ARTOTEL Sanur collaborates with 35 Studio Gelombang children aged 7-18 years old to address the theme ‘Habitat’ with their free and honest imagination.

The exhibition features 35 works by all Studio Gelombang members who will realize their version of ‘Habitat’.

Studio Gelombang is an alternative space where children can share knowledge about art in Batuan Village, Gianyar, Bali.

The founder, Made Griyawan, said that he established this studio to preserve the fine art tradition of Batuan.

When referring to the Batuan inscription, the Batuan painting style dates back to 1,000 years ago.

“To remain sustainable, we need to actively maintain this tradition. It’s just like a wave, the series of traditional arts should not be broken, whether big or small, the waves will continue to exist,” he said.

Agus Ade Surya Wirawan, General Manager of ARTOTEL Sanur – Bali said ARTOTEL Sanur is very proud to be working with Studio Gelombang, which is a place to preserve art and guide children to love art from an early age.

“We hope, the younger generation will continue to create and preserve art in Indonesia, especially in Bali. And this also increases our enthusiasm to continue to support the emergence of emerging artists in Bali,” Agus said.
